Cliff at The Cliff & New House Mates

In the words of my eldest, "we're eating good tonight!" so we decide to have a hearty breakfast and skip lunch so that we can save ourselves for The Cliff.

Fried dumplings, plantain, scrambled eggs, beans and avocado!

Today sees the arrival of some new housemates - Ruth (Hank's daughter) and her beau, Malcolm. Unfortunately, their flight has been delayed by 2 hours so they won't be able to make dinner at The Cliff. What a shame! The next best thing is to get them some dinner from Surfside and have rum punch on ice at the villa ready and waiting.

We get ready as Mum is booked in for her mani-pedi. We get Keisha to drop us off at Mango Bay hotel. Gem and Hank stayed there last year to celebrate her 50th! It looks great. We get mum sorted and choose a suitable nail varnish...too hot to handle!

We leave Mum so that I can finally do the shopping that I should've done yesterday! Gem takes me to a great stall and I buy presents for the children and a necklace and earrings set for me to wear with my dress at The Cliff!

Off to the supermarket to buy the rum and pepper sauce! Unfortunately, I am already over weight so I have to be selective! It's pepper sauce all the way!

Shopping over in less than half an hour and it's off to....? Yes, The Lime Grove Bar for a drink. Philip isn't there today but it's still really lovely! I have a rum punch and Hank has a beer. Gem gets Mum from the hotel. When they get back, it's more rum punches and beers all round! We are suffering from alcoholic constipation...we can't pass a bar!

As we're sitting at the bar chatting away a couple of guys come to sit at the bar! I didn't take much notice until half an hour later, I turn to Hank and say, "that looks like Bobby Davro." Hank informs me that's because it is him. He's impressed by my observational skills! Clearly the panto season is over!

Time to head back to the Hut and get ready for The Cliff. We tidy up so that Ruth and Malcolm can experience the same breathtaking view of the villa on their arrival.

Time to leave for The Cliff. It's pouring with rain! A quick dash to the car and we're off! As we start driving down the road, it's clear to see that the roads are flooded. Keisha is nervous! We finally pull up at The Cliff. It doesn't look like much from the outside. As the car pulls up by the door, men with umbrellas comes up to the car and escorts each of us up the stairs! I'm impressed already. We walk in and everyone greets us with a smile and welcomes us to The Cliff! We walk through to the cocktail lounge. It's breathtaking; the place is lit by candlelight and flamed torches! You can see the sea and if you look closely you can see tarpons and stingrays swimming in the water.

We sit down and Hank orders a bottle of Mr Veuve and Mum has a Dark and Stormy cocktail - rum, lime juice and ginger beer.

I turn to Hank and ask him if it's ok for me to be here?! He gives me the nod that's it ok providing I keep my mouth shut!

After a couple of sips of her cocktail, Mum announces she's getting drunk. We encourage her to sip and not gulp we can't afford a repeat performance of rum punch night!

We approached by a very beautiful young lady, who announces they are ready for us to dine. We are told to leave our drinks as they bring them for you!

We walk down the stairs and oh my, the view is great. We are put at a table overlooking the water. It's gorgeous!

We order. Hank and Mum have a lobster linguini to start and Cajun swordfish, Gem has a carpaccio of tomatoes, beetroot and goats cheese with salad and barracuda. I had a portobello mushroom followed by tenderloin of beef with truffle fries! If you ever get a chance to get to The Cliff I can recommend the truffle fries! It's all lovely and we enjoy! Although Gem complains about the fact we had to put the napkins on our laps ourselves and the carpaccio of tomatoes were sliced too thickly! She's so spoilt!

As we eat, a party arrives; it's Sir Cliff Richards. He may look young but he's not too stable in his feet. They sit at the table Gem had her celebratory 50th birthday meal.

We also see a couple who clearly got married that day leaving the restaurant. One of the waiters come over and asks if I've seen the wedding party. He offers me a marriage proposal; we can get married on the beach at sunset on Saturday. It sounds like a good idea but I'm leaving on a flight at 5.50. I told him that I'll be back in August and that we could do it then on the proviso that we do it bare feet and he has to wear linen trousers and shirt with a bare chest! He says he's more of a jeans man! I can see this marriage is not going to work out!

We finish our meal! Stuffed! Completely stuffed but it would be so rude not to try a pudding. Mum has rum and raisin ice cream and Gem, Hank and I share a bread and butter pudding with a vanilla sauce! One spoon each is more than enough! The whole experience is overwhelming! I think Simon would love it here if he could forget about the price and simply enjoy the experience! We'll see!

Ruth and Malcolm have arrived at the Villa and text us to say they are by the pool. We want to make sure we see them before we go to bed. We give Keisha a call and within 10 minutes we're off!

We arrive home and Ruth and Malcolm are by the pool, beers in hand. We tell them of our wonderful time at The Cliff.

We sit for awhile but feeling full and very tired, it's time to go to bed!

My final thoughts of the day, The Cliff...impressive! Most impressive!
