Barbados 2012

After a restless nights sleep, it was time to get up, get dressed and get poolside!

As is their want, Hank and Gem walk the length and breadth of Barbados before lunch! Apparently it's very therapeutic! What can be more therapeutic than a cold glass of something by the pool?

Mum is still engrossed in her book and has definitely caught the sun.

The plan for today is generally lazy with a trip out to Oistins tonight. It's Saturday and so not the main night but at least I can say I've been!

Hank and Gem return from their walk and announce that they have found a sports bar on the beach so that we can watch the footy on Sunday! I think they mean so that they can watch the footy and we can chill in the sun! We can also have breakfast there! Result!

After a well deserved nap (rum punch and heat don't mix), we get dressed to go to Oistins! Hank has booked us a cab for 7.30. It's a quick change Quincy and we're ready to go.

We are greeted by a vey nice Bajan lady called Keisha! Straight away we hit it off! I told her that I've come looking for my Dexter St Jock. She's not familiar so I told her to Google it! Mum was in the car so we couldn't be too explicit. Hank also told her that he refers to us as his bi-atches! She found it hilarious!

We arrange for Keisha to pick us up from Oistins in a couple of hours!

We walk around.....everyone's touting for business! Apparently it's a lot quieter than on a Friday night when you can't get seated and people are dancing in the square! Luckily, it was quiet and we have a wander around and settle on Crystals! Rum for the girls and a Guiness for Hank. We're served by Phil who supports Man U! Gem and Hank don't hold it against him.

We all had flying fish but I opted for a piece of dried chicken too! We waited a while and a US couple sat next to us and before eating their whole grilled snapper (which they had sent back claiming that it was undercooked).....the strangest thing...they put on latex gloves to eat the fish! I don't know...they had forks and hardly used their fingers so I found them to be offensive!

Our dinner came and I have to say we weren't disappointed; although for some reason people rarely serve hot food! Although Hank's was hot so I reckon it was because we girls is black!

The food was great and I tried to work out the seasoning stuffed in the dried chicken. I got a few of the ingredients....ginger, garlic and chilli pepper but couldn't work out the rest. The lady said, I've been making that mix for years....it's a secret recipe...how did you guess that! I felt proud but I think she was just massaging my ego! There was a lot more in that mix that I didn't know.

Keisha picked us up exactly on time as she promised and we had even more fun and laughter on the way back to Harpers.

Tomorrow is Sunday and we're planning a day at the beach.
